Former Jets QB Christian Hackenberg benched in latest AAF game

Christian Hackenberg’s time as a starter with the Memphis Express could be coming to an stop.

Hackenberg was specified his third opportunity to commence for the Express Saturday towards the Apollos, but it went badly. He went 8-14 for 88 yards and two interceptions.

With that arrived his benching for the commence of the 2nd half. He was changed by previous NFL quarterback Zach Mettenberger. It was the 2nd time the Penn Point out item has been benched this season.

In his two past online games, Hackenberg struggled as well, but not this poor. In his debut, it was his precision that was off, as he went 10-23 for 87 yards and an interception. Having said that, in his 2nd sport, he showed some enhancement, heading 14-25 for 102 yards and extra 39 speeding yards as well as a speeding landing.

The 23-year-old quarterback was a 2nd spherical choose by the Jets in 2016. In his two seasons with Gang Green, Hackenberg only observed motion in the preseason and he was dreadful. That led the Jets to deal him to the Raiders in 2018, but was allow go immediately after three weeks.

The Philadelphia Eagles took a flyer on Hackenberg in August of 2018, but managed to only participate in in a single preseason sport. Ironically, it was towards the Jets, but he ongoing to display why he was traded. Last but not least, the Cincinnati Bengals signed Hackenberg to their follow squad, but he was in no way promoted to the energetic roster. He was then slice in November.

At this level, it’s difficult to see Hackenberg finding back to the NFL at any time quickly. If he can not get the position accomplished towards AAF competitors, he’ll be difficult-pressed to do so at the best level.
