The rumors around the Arizona Cardinals and cornerback Patrick Peterson continue, although they appear to be going in no direction. The seven-time Pro Bowler has reportedly requested a trade from the 1-6 Cardinals, but the Cardinals do not appear to be willing dealers.
We have our first report of a team actually making a call to the Cardinals. According to the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta, the New York Jets, coached by former Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, made a call to the Cardinals to see what it would take to acquire Peterson.
New York was told no. It would take “a miracle” to trade him to the Jets.
The Cardinals remain firm in the notion they will not trade Peterson. Team president Michael Bidwill said it and so did coach Steve Wilks.
The trade deadline is next Tuesday and the Cardinals are already turning teams down. Is there a way for this to end well? Peterson will speak to reporters on Thursday, so we will know whether he doubles down or whether he walks it back.
