  • The Green Bay Packers have been eliminated from playoff contention, leading many to suggest the team sit Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season.
  • While there’s no official news regarding Rodgers’ Week 16 status against the New York Jets, line movement suggests Rodgers may not play.

With Green Bay officially eliminated from playoff contention following its Week 15 loss to the Chicago Bears, plenty of people believe the Packers will sit Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season.

Considering that Green Bay has nothing to play for and Rodgers’ list of nagging injuries, the idea of letting him get healthy does make sense.

While nothing is official, the line for Sunday’s Packers-Jets matchup plummeted shortly after opening.

On Monday morning, The Action Network’s Mark Gallant detailed how sharp action could be responsible for the massive adjustment.

Another reason could be the betting market tipping the Packers’ hand.

The Pack opened as 3.5-point favorites against the Jets. However, that number swung to Jets -2 at Pinnacle.

This is significant because Pinnacle is a market-setting sportsbook that accepts high-limit wagers from professional bettors, resulting in its lines being widely-respected among bettors and fellow oddsmakers.

Other sportsbooks quickly took note, dropping the market consensus to between a pick’em and Jets -2.

Early NFL Week 16 simulations make this line Jets -3.1 should backup quarterback DeShone Kizer ultimately start in place of Rodgers.
