MORRISTOWN, NJ – For the 2nd consecutive year, Morristown High School is participating in the New York Jets “Upstander of the Week” Program. In order to be chosen, students must encourage positive dialogue among their peers and work to ensure that all students are respected and valued as members of the MHS community,
This week, Joshua Danus was selectted as the NY Jets Upstander of the Week. According to his teacher, Ms. Majorossy, Joshua “can be counted on” to assist other students in his class and she described him as being “very helpful.” She mentioned that his “character was tremendous” and that he “deserved applause.” Furthermore, he “helps to create a warm and friendly classroom environment” and “earns terrific grades in both his classwork and homework.” Finally, she stated that he was “polite, kind, courteous, and sincere to his teacher and classmates.”
For each of 16 weeks during the 2018 NFL season, staff members will nominate students who demonstrate upstanding qualities of character similar to the Heart of the Colonial (i.e. kind, hard-working, responsible, honest, and respectful). One student will be selected each week and he/she will be honored with a special T-shirt, parent bumper sticker, 3 tickets to a home NY Jets game, and a parking pass.

“This program affords us the opportunity to highlight the positive contributions so many of our students make to our school and to our community”, said Morristown High School Principal Mark Manning. “I want to extend my appreciation to the Jets organization for their willingness to partner with us to recognize some of our amazing students at MHS”.
Schools who fully participate in the program may receive a visit by New York Jets players. Last year, Morristown High School was a finalist during the 2017 season
