The New York Jets appear to be getting their starting quarterback Sam Darnold back for this upcoming week’s matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

Veteran quarterback Josh McCown has filled in for Darnold while the rookie recovers from a foot injury that has held him out of action for the last three weeks. Unfortunately, the Jets lost those three contests that Darnold was held out as well as the last three games that he did play. That makes it six straight losses for the Jets, but they will look to get back on track against the Bills this upcoming Sunday.
The Bills are rather tough to throw on this season as they have reaped the benefits of having one of the league’s strongest secondaries. Darnold faces a tough task as Micah Hyde, Tre’Davious White, and Jordan Poyer await the young quarterback if he in fact does receive the starting nod for this matchup. Head coach Todd Bowles likely won’t rush Darnold back, so if he can’t practice at a comfortable level this week, McCown would likely get another start.
The Jets seemed to start off on a surprisingly good note this season as they dismantled the Detroit Lion, 48-17 back in Week 1. The three wins that New York has are against solid teams in the Denver Broncos in Week 5 and then the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. If the Jets hope to salvage their season, Darnold has to give them their best chance of doing so.
