New York Jets fantasy football preview, Week 10: kick it with Jason Myers, D/ST against Buffalo Bills

The New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills this week in what could be a throwback quarterback matchup fit for 2007. Josh McCown is set to start for the Jets due to a foot sprain suffered by rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Buffalo’s quarterback situation is so bad that if injured rookie Josh Allen, who is recovering from an elbow sprain suffered three weeks ago, is unable to play, then they are hoping that the recently un-retired Derek Anderson can clear concussion protocol in time to avoid another Nathan Peterman start.

None of this points to a hotbed of fantasy football activity, but there are certainly some members of Gang Green worth considering for your lineup this week.

The Bills have been very hit or miss against running backs this year. When they’ve been good, they’ve been really good, allowing only 12.5, 10, and 13 points combined to the running backs for the Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans, and Houston Texans. However, they have allowed eight different running backs to score in double-figures this year, and they have allowed 3 running backs to surpass the 20-point mark in a week. Crowell has been just as hit or miss, scoring 18 points or more on three occasions. In the other six games in which he’s played, he has not surpassed 6.5 points. He has the kind of explosiveness that could give Buffalo problems, especially if the Bills’ offense continues its trend and gifts the Jets solid field position all day long.

Jets D/ST

This one is pretty self explanatory. Buffalo has allowed 4 defensive touchdowns this season. They only have 8 touchdowns themselves on the year. The Bills have thrown 16 interceptions, lost 6 fumbles, and allowed 33 sacks. If the Jets’ defense is available, pick them up and start them.

The Jets’ kicker is available in 63% of Yahoo! leagues. Guess who the highest-scoring kicker in fantasy football is this year? If you guessed the Marist College product, then you are correct. Myers has 91 fantasy points, one more than Stephen Gostkowski has. Myers is doing Poughkeepsie proud, playing only 2 hours south of his college digs. If the Bills defense is able to bend and not break, the Red Fox will be in line for a big day. Myers is 20-for-22 on the year, and 10-for-11 on kicks over 40 yards. He’s definitely worth an add.
