New York Jets select Jonah Williams in new mock draft

It’s no secret that the New York Jets need help bad on their offensive line as NFL Mocks has them selecting offensive tackle Jonah Williams out of Alabama in the 2019 NFL Draft.

There is a huge reason why the New York Jets are currently 3-7 and on the outside looking in. Their offensive line has been inconsistent and unable to get the job done, to say the least. From lacking cohesion in pass protection to not establishing the right rushing lanes for running backs, it’s clear this will be an area to upgrade when the offseason is here.

If general manager Mike Maccagnan is in a position to do so, it’s a high probability the Jets will have a top-five pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. They must undoubtedly address their offensive line two-fold, using a high draft pick and making some free agency acquisitions to bolster the positional group big time.

NFL Mocks recently released a new mock draft that has the Jets landing one of the top offensive tackles in next year’s draft. They have the Jets, with the No. 5 overall pick in next year’s draft, selecting offensive tackle Jonah Williams out of Alabama.

At 6-5 and 301 pounds, Williams should be able to do an incredible job in protecting future franchise quarterback Sam Darnold. Not only for his blind side but also be a force to reckon with in creating great rushing lanes to truly open things up offensively.

As always, if you want to win football games, it’s all about winning the battle of the trenches. If the Jets can bolster their offensive line over the next year or two, they’ll be building the right foundation to make a serious run in the future.

Until the Jets address their offensive line once and for all, they’ll always be unable to succeed where it matters most. Hopefully, landing Williams in next year’s draft is a big part in having better talent in the positional group to put the Jets back into contention.
