Oddsmakers peg a surprising favorite for Jets’ next head coach

You can place a bet on just about anything nowadays. Think you know who Christopher Johnson and Mike Maccagnan want as the Jets’ successor to Todd Bowles at head coach? Time to put your money where your mouth is.

Rumors have been buzzing around the league since New York fired Bowles following its Week 17 loss to the Patriots. Truth be told, there are plenty of qualified coaches out there to turn Gang Green around.

Some see long-time Packers head coach Mike McCarthy as a perfect fit in helping groom Sam Darnold. Others believe that the Dolphins let a brilliant mind walk out the door in Adam Gase. The list goes on and on. One way or the other, the Jets have the attention of numerous suitors that would like to get their hands on this young squad.

Thanks to BetOnline.ag, fans and gamblers alike get to take a look at where the chips might fall for New York. Here are the betting odds for the Jets’ next head coach, with a surprising favorite leading the way.

Bruce Arians 2/1

Adam Gase 3/1

Eric Bieniemy 4/1

Matt LaFleur 5/1

Mike McCarthy 6/1

Jim Caldwell 7/1

Pete Carmichael 9/1

No disrespect to the oddsmakers, but this is a wacky list, especially with Arians at the top. The former Cardinals coach is currently retired and hasn’t been seriously linked to the Jets. Even if he were to come out of retirement, it’s hard to see him taking over for Bowles, a close friend.

Additionally, Pete Carmichael and Matt LaFleur have not been connected with Gang Green as of yet. With that in mind, be careful where you put your money if your basing your bets on these odds.
