The Jets’ Destiny – Gang Green Nation

Through the trials and tribulations of another new and improved (now playoffs free!) season, it may provide some comfort that Destiny is on the Jets’ side. To be more specific, Destiny Vaeao, a 6’ 4”, 298 pound defensive lineman formerly employed by the Philadelphia Eagles and signed by the New York Jets to the practice squad.

Destiny Vaeao is a 24 year old, third year veteran waived by the Eagles after spending the better part of three NFL seasons with them. Vaeao was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2016 by the Eagles. He appeared in all 16 games with the 2016 Eagles in his most productive season in the NFL, compiling 15 tackles, two sacks, three quarterback hits and a forced fumble. For his three year NFL career Vaeao has accrued a total of 27 tackles, three sacks, five quarterback hits, and a forced fumble in 656 defensive snaps.

Vaeao has good strength and quickness and a bit of pass rushing ability. He was projected by many to go in the mid to late rounds of the 2016 draft but ended up not having his name called on draft day. For a practice squad player Destiny is probably more viable as NFL depth than most. In any event it can never hurt to have Destiny on your side.
