As we sit through the New York Jets bye week, we take a look at three players on the current roster that must step up to earn their spot in 2019.

Time to take a step back and take a deep breath. The New York Jets have finally hit the bye week. Finally, because they aren’t exactly hitting it with the momentum we all expected.

The record is 3-7. That is not what Jets Nation hoped. The progress of the team seemingly has stalled in its tracks. The coach and the general manager are firmly on the hot seat.

It doesn’t feel like this thing is about to turn around any time soon.

Most fans believe that change will be coming when the season ends, but we really don’t know that. When have the Jets actually gone with conventional thinking? I don’t remember when either.

However, there is one thing that we do know. We know that the coach is not the only problem. The players take a good share of the blame as well.

I mean, Sam Darnold is safe. We all know that he will be around next season. There are others, like Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams to name a couple.

But that is hardly the case for the roster at large. Many players have underperformed and need to step up in order to earn their position on the team in 2019.

Tonight, we are going to review three players that need to step it up to earn their spot in 2019.
