UConn offensive coordinator John Dunn hired by New York Jets

It was already known that the UConn football group would be entering the year with a new defensive coordinator, but now there is a change on the other aspect of the ball.

Offensive coordinator John Dunn has recognized a occupation as the tight ends coach of the New York Jets, a transfer initial noted by the Hartford Courant. The report also indicates that offensive line coach Frank Giufre will insert the responsibility of offensive coordinator in addition to coaching the offensive line, lately promoted operating backs coach Mike Moyseenko will now coach the quarterbacks and Kyle Weiss will transfer from defensive excellent control coach to manage the operating backs.

“I want to want John effectively with the Jets and thank him for his contributions to our program this previous 12 months,” UConn coach Randy Edsall stated in a launch. “I’m quite psyched to endorse Frank to offensive coordinator. He will do an outstanding occupation continuing the system we have in spot and will offer balance for what we want to do relocating ahead this year and for a lot of seasons to follow.”

Dunn was lately promoted to associate head coach with Edsall picking out to pay $150,000 a 12 months to give Dunn a elevate. He formerly served on the personnel of new Jets offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains with the Chicago Bears prior to Dunn was hired at UConn.

UConn enhanced operating the ball, but the passing figures dropped in Dunn’s lone year contacting the offensive plays. A lot of that can be credited to the dynamic operating capacity of quarterback David Pindell. The Huskies won’t have the threat of a 1,000-garden rusher at quarterback for the 2019 year. When spring camp begins on Tuesday, mounting sophomores Marvin Washington and Steven Krajewski will split time at quarterback. In June, graduate transfer Mike Beaudry and true freshman Jack Zergiotis will get there on campus.

UConn will return a 1,000-garden rusher in Kevin Mensah and four beginning offensive linemen but have holes to fill at quarterback, receiver and tight conclusion.

Giufre, a member of the offensive coaching personnel of 3 playoff teams with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, will be UConn’s sixth offensive coordinator in the last 7 seasons with only Mike Cummings in 2014 and 2015 owning the occupation in again-to-again seasons.

Dunn is the fourth member of the 2018 coaching personnel to depart. Defensive coordinator Billy Crocker and defensive backs coach Curome Cox had been fired after a year when UConn’s protection set national records for yards and points permitted. Functioning backs coach Terry Richardson recognized the same occupation at Mississippi State.
