The Jets are hopeless. They have been for years. Fifty, to be exact. This four-game losing streak and train wreck of a season are proof that the latest rebuild hasn’t worked. Odds are, head coach Todd Bowles will be gone come the end of the season. General manager Mike Maccagnan might be, too.
But just how does the Jets’ misery and hopeleness compare to some of the NFL‘s other struggling franchises? Are other teams even worse off? Does the silver lining provided by quarterback Sam Darnold but the Jets in better shape than say the Browns or Raiders or even the lowly Giants?

Here’s a look at just how hopeless each NFL franchise is, starting with the best off and moving toward the most miserable.
32) Patriots
Current record: 7-3
Last playoff appearance: 2017
Last Super Bowl: 2016
Analysis: The dynasty continues. So long as Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are in New England, this team always has a shot to win a Super Bowl. Must be nice.
31) Eagles
Current record: 4-5
Last playoff appearance: 2017
Last Super Bowl: 2017
Analysis: A year ago, the Eagles would have been in a very different spot on this list. But no one feels sorry for the reigning Super Bowl champions. Plus, they have a bright future with Carson Wentz as quarterback.
30) Steelers
Current record: 6-2-1
Last playoff appearance: 2017
Last Super Bowl: 2008
Analysis: Surprise surprise, the Steelers are heading back to the playoffs. Ten years is a long Super Bowl drought by Steelers’ standards, but certainly not by league-wide standards. This organization is like a well-engineered German machine. It never seems to break down.
